Walking

The Great Outdoors...

The Assynt Hills are reported to be the oldest in Britain and contain some of the great mountains of the north such as Suilven, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt our nearest Munro, a walkers' paradise, from the coast to high peaks. From Lochinver you can walk along the coast to Achmelvich and on to the split rock at Clachtol. The Old Man of Stoer is also a firm favourite along the coast.

That splendid Scotsman, Sir Compton Mackenzie, once declared that of all parts of his magnificent country he preferred this region of spectacular Highland beauty, singling out especially the isolated peaks of Sutherland.
